Moving one line of music back a page

I am working on the parts for a collection of band chorales and I’m having issues with my formatting. I would like the highlighted line of music to be on the previous page. However, when I click move to previous system it makes one crowded line rather than two separate ones.

How can I make it so I get two lines rather than one crowded one?

Welcome to the forum, @christianrgarnes !

Dorico is doing exactly what you told it to do – making the selected music into a single system (line).

What you want to do is put that system into the previous frame (page, in this kind of layout). To do that, select the first note on the left-hand page, then Ctrl/Cmd+click the last note in the system on the right-hand page and click the “Make Into Frame” button in the left-hand panel.

Note that the left-hand page will be a little crowded – if Dorico thought that that system would fit on the LH page, according to your spacing settings, it would have put it there. Instead of forcing that system onto the page, you may want to try lowering the setting in Layout Options > Vertical Spacing > Ideal Gaps > Inter-system gap. This will tell Dorico not to leave so much space between systems, which may provide enough room for that system to fit on its own.

That solved my problem. Thank you!
