Moving only the split line on an audio clip (in audio montage)

Hi everyone! I am trying to see if this is possible in Wavelab:

Split an audio clip in the Audio Montage, and in one click and drag motion, move only the split line so that both the left and the right side of the audio clip “move” together so that there’s no having to go back and close the gap or have the ripple effect mess up the audio placement (it usually leaves the gap when I want to just close up the split gap)

Justin Perkins helped me see that this can technically be done with the command key (mac) but only when there is a crossfade created between the split clips so I was curious if there was a hidden shortcut key to do this without the crossfade.

I do this movement a lot when fine tuning a split spot location but all of the extra movement closing and opening the gaps can get a little frustrating (I’m coming from Reaper so this one click and drag movement has become ingrained in my bones haha)

Thanks!!

I’m not sure what you mean. If you want to split, why not split immediately where you like rather than having the split point move around? You probably need adding some picture(s) to clarify.

Here’s the screenshot in Reaper of what I was wondering could also happen in Wavelab. Often times I will split the area where I want to add a clip plugin for that specific section but then later realize I wanted the split to be a little earlier/later so I could just move the split line without dealing with any unwanted gaps or crossfades.

Sorry, this is not possible in one operation. Thanks to the magnetic clip boundaries, this is not that difficult, though, in two moves.

I note this feature as a possible option for the future.

Totally okay and just thought I’d check (I’m on day 3 of using Wavelab so I’ve been researching what movements exist across DAWs)

If so that would be amazing. Thanks for your time and help!!
