I am having trouble creating an output to my desk top computer speakers and also creating an audio output of the final mix.
I have a moxf8 connected by USB to a computer running Cubase 14. I also have the moxf vst editor and remote tools and the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver.
I have spent a lot of time trying to get audio to the speakers.
I can easily hear the 5 tracks on my moxf synth speakers and headphones. I have carefully read all of bad misters excellent articles on the topic. The main problem is getting the moxf vst output to the computers main out. I wonder if any one has had similar problems or might be aware of how to achieve thi.s. The MIDI info is sent back to the moxf tone generators and the trick would be to have that audio find a way back to Cubase and be part of a final mixdown. Presently I only hear the a/d analogue part coming through from ports 1/2 from a microphone connected to the a/d input of the moxf 8… Any MIDI tracks are not rendered.
I have been able to get some sound if I use a halion vst.
Thanks in anticipation of any advice.,
Simon
If Moxf is selected as your audio device you should be able to record from it. But you won’t be able to use your computer speakers at the same time with this driver.
To record your midi to audio you should be able to follow this guide.
NB: There are possible workarounds using third party drivers (ASIO4all or VB Audio Matrix) to use both the keyboard and your computer speakers at the same time, but probably best you try to get it working this way first…using the Modx headphone out to monitor
Thanks for that grim. Greatly appreciated.
I carefully followed the article and could replicate everything it said to do. I could even get the doubling up of the sound with direct monitor on and when off has to use DAW level as it described.
The mixer shows audio coming out on the mox6/moxf8 bus which sends back to the moxf keyboard.
I checked the computers own sound settings and could see The output as line(2-moxf 6/moxf8) and the input also as line 2 …
So it works. Thankyou.
I can now record my moxf as audio into Cubase.
…,…
Ps
I solved my first MIDI recording mix by exporting MIDI to USB memory stick from Cubase and storing that as a MIDI song on the moxf…I then matched the 16 voices with the instrument sounds needed and can now send all of that back to Cubase as a single audio in to complete that work along with a microphone audio via the a/d input.
Final better method
Create a/d input for microphone input +
4 to 6 midi tracks.
Record composition with fast turn around using moxf remote … Rew, rec, play/stop ,new track, up, down all selected using daw remote
Balance and mix as needed in Cubase.
Then create an audio track for each midi track
Play each part separately and save as audio to Cubase.
Then do final mix down for audio and sheet music from midi for scores… Probably finalized in musescore.
Cheers
