while trying to export mp3 on WL 6.11 pro, it complains that the fraunhofer plugin trial is over
although i do have some systemwide fraunhofer pro mp3 plugin installed and also WL11 has one registered and even Magix has one - not sure if they use systemwide stuff or their own though.
i remember with earlier windows, even on 8.1 [x64] i had made it work, but now it seems it get sandboxed somewhere and unavailable OR it requires some specific installer or old encoder version to make WL6 happy, i don’t know… maybe some of you know the internals and what what it wants precisely? as it manages to run for a month indicates that it’s already there… and of course all links which point to steinberg’s "upgrade via internet " leads to their http://service.steinberg.de/goto.nsf/show/ct_en_shop which in turn welcomes me with service.steinberg.de
WL6 provides only 20 free Fraunhofer Exports of mp3.
it’s safe to say that now it provides 20 in total as paid or non-paid, because there is nowhere to pay for it neither clear if it would start working at all (windows 11 after all… been a long time since XP32 and the means of reaching codecs might have changed…) i have WL 11.2 pro on same machine, that one has fraunhofer baked-in but wl6 doesn’t see it…
It might have been a promo/trial that was available for purchase back then. Now you will have to write to Steinberg to know if you can still buy or get the encoder.
You can open the WL6 created Montage in WL11 and render.
You can also look for options such as
dBpoweramp Codec Central Fraunhofer Mp3 32-Bit that works with their software dBPoweramp Reference sold for 48$. You will have to install their 32-bit software to use this codec.
