MR816x with Saffire liquid 56

I have a Steinberg MR816x and are really happy with it. Can I connect a Saffire liquid 56 and use 16 channel direct recording into my pc and how should I connect them, thru adat?

I dont have the focusrite saffire liquid 56, would a MR816csx be a better choise?
Anyway, I need 16 channels of recording and no dropouts or anything that makes it unstable. A full steinberg MR 816 setup, or mix with something like Focusrite Saffire liquid 56.
