Muffled timpani

Using Note Performer. I would like to indicate muffled timpani (or covered, coperti) - but if I select ‘muffled’ - I get the effect I want on playback, but the word ‘muffled’ recurs on every single note - and since at times two drums are playing simultaneously, that’s a lot of ‘muffled!’ Any suggestions? - And… in the playing techniques menu, ‘pitched percussion’ seems to yield only harp techniques (I drew the ‘muffled’ from the ‘unpitched’ menu - but I get the same result if I use the popover (shift-P) - ‘muffled’ on every single note.

If you add muffled on the first note, then extend it with alt-shift-right arrow.

Or, redefine the muffled Playback technique to be a Direction instead of an attribute. Then you have to cancel it with ord or norm. Still, put it on the first note only.

Many thanks!
