Multi-bar rests locally

Can I really not create a multi-bar rest locally or manually? I am creating a document that contains many rhythmic exercises, each exercise in a different flow. I want multi-bar rests to be applied only to particular flows but to the entire document.

Thanks.

Context: I’m among the throng of Finale-converts, often dispirited by the learning curve.

Multi-bar rests are a layout option. That means they apply for all flows in any particular layout.

If you need a mixture, the simplest way is to use a chord region when you need to break up a multi rest.

Thank you very much to Janus for this brilliant tip, but admit that the procedure is unnecessarily complicated :-D…

It doesn’t seem complicated to me, just select the region where you don’t want a multi-bar rest and apply a chord region. (It gets a little more complicated if you can’t use a chord region because you actually have chords in other instruments.)

But I agree that it’s not particularly obvious, and it would be nice if Dorico had a better native way of managing multi bar rests.
