Multi Core Option in Halion, will it be faster?

Hello everyone,

I’m new to computers and recently assembled my first one specifically music production and anlysis. I’ve been exploring Halion 7 and have a few queries.

I opted for a Ryzen 9 7900X CPU (12 cores, 4.7-5.6 GHz) based on advice emphasizing high single-core speeds for programs like Cubase, rather than core count. This brings me to wonder about enabling the multi-core option in Halion 7 for potential performance gains, and how many cores would be optimal.

I would greatly appreciate your insights!

Thank you!

You wont know how ‘optimal’ your setup is until you throw everything you need at it and wait for it to bottom out somewhere. No one can guess what types of libraries, instruments, the number of tracks, plugins, etc you will be using.

The general rule of thumb is:
If using stand-alone, turn multi-core on;
If using in a DAW, turn multi-core off in the instrument and let the DAW handle it. (The reason being that 2 items of software will be fighting it out as to who chooses which core to use.)
This applies to all VSTis and DAWs.
