It would be cool if one could load a track with multiband capabilities (say, maybe 5). Then one could load different inserts, but then route the individual bands to different outputs or busses. The creative possibilities could be endless. I do have a multiband fx mixer, but this would be different ![]()
Hi,
You can route the signal to up to 8 sends. As the 1st Insert of the FX Channel, you can set a hard filter to pass only some frequencies. Then you can continue with your other Inserts.
This seems like a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist…
And you can use Direct Output Routing for a handful more.
However, after you split the signal up in frequency bands using your filter, can you bring them all together and have them null with the original? You might, but it sounds fiddley and time consuming.
@Mic-E-Muzic I use Waves Studio Rack for these types of operations.
Being able to apply insert FX’s to only part of the freq spectrum is a good idea. It’s essentially why I still use magneto - because it allows me to apply the tape sat to a filtered part of the sound. Being able to do that as part of the cubase mixer would be cool.
Thanks for stearing my brain in this direction! I knew I could have 8 sends, and even make routing more complicated from those send buses, but I hadn’t thought about isolating frequencies on each send with filtering. I’m learning something new everyday!
Still, I would not dismiss your feature request.
While the functionality might be there, you are in essence asking for a streamlined version of it.
The manual frequency splitting set up is okay for one or two tracks. It gets very annoying if you want to achieve this on a regular basis.
Furthermore one can reach the limit rather fast as Cubase only allows up to 64 FX busses.
I think Group Tracks would work just as well (which are limited to 256 in Pro).
