I love WL 13’s new parallel rendering, this really makes a difference. Consequently, I wonder if the same thing could be done for importing multiple audio files into a montage. For example, I’m building a new audio montage from 30 MP3 files using the Start assistant, and each of the files needs to be decoded in sequence (which takes several minutes) before I can start assembling the montage. Speeding up this process by a factor of 16 (or whatever number of cores are available) would be awesome.
This is currently not possible and frankly this is not a high priority. Indeed, importing MP3 files to re-encode them is uncommon, as the renders will lose quality.
Thanks! It’s not a very big “pain point” for me, but it is indeed something I do quite often when building audiobooks for my private media server, where I use an MP3 CD (with sometimes hundreds of files that don’t correspond at all to the book’s chapters) for an audio montage in which I can place markers at the correct chapter positions and render AAC files that are then combined into an M4B file by a different app. Of course there is some quality loss, but it’s not really noticeable with this kind of content
