Hi there, I want to write some multiphonics for oboe resp. cor anglais like the exemples composed by Richard Felciano “Dark Landscape” for cor anglais (see pics). How can I do this with Dorico Pro 6 ? Thanks so much!
Are you referring to the fingering diagram?
Would this work?
I looked through my various books and found this one, The Techniques of Oboe Playing and there are various note letters, half holes, air pressure, lip pressure, amount of reed, position of teeth, micro-tone indications etc. as you are presumably needing to include looking at your image. It would be nice if they could be added in to the fingering diagram itself, you’ll have to check (as the diagram builder seems to be for basic fingering of normal notes, not multiphonics from what I can quickly determine) and presumably you would want them adding in there as you build it, instead of adding them somehow in another way (it does not look like you can export as svg for example.)
Someone here might have other suggestions for you ![]()
I use the legni fonts and use the system text entry
I think Ludger is looking for a way to notate the harmonics and multiphonics—not fingering charts. So to say the aural aspect…
That will help me a lot, thank you!!
Thank you! But “system text” (system-attached text)? Not staff-attached text (shift + X ?)
I installed the LegniOboe.ttf and LegniOboeEnglHn.ttf fonts on my Mac. But I do not understand completely how to entry the whole multiphonic notation. Which text I have I to type (with the LegniOboeEnglHn.ttf) to entry f.e. the multiphonic sh. pic?
Yes staff attached text is right. To collect all the fingerings I use a spreadsheet where I type in the right key combination with a normal text font and see the results in a different column using the legni font. From there I copy the right combination into Dorico. I didn’t use the oboe font so far but I can upload you an example for saxophone or clarinet.
Hi Ludger,
I can’t upload spread sheet files here.
You can download it here: HiDrive
Originally I use Numbers but I also made an Excel version and added a Dorico file.
Hope it helps and clarifies things.
(FYI You can put them in a zip archive and upload that)
Thanks for the tip! The link should do it now.
