Multiple Flow Titles on Same Page

Has Dorico Pro 6 been updated to allow for multiple flow titles on the same page? For example, I have attached a project with 4 flows and I would like to have at least 2 flow titles on page 1 of Horn 2.

Hi @jk3horn, the flow 2 title not appearing is caused by the page override on that page:

go in Engrave mode, and from the right Pages panel, right click on Page 1 icon, and choose Remove page override(s).
You have page overrides on every Page 1 of your Full score and Part layouts: to have a clean project I suggest you remove them all.

Doing so some of the informations displayed will not be there anymore (Transcription and Arranger).
This is because you used the Project Arranger and Project Editor fields in the Project info dialogue (and there are no token for them currently in your First page template, in both Full score and Parts):

So you need to edit the First page template of both Full score and Parts layouts, and substitute the project composer and project lyricist tokens with the corresponding one that you are using in Project info.
Here the result:

Alternatively (after removing all Page overrides), you can instead move the text in Project info dialogue to the field that correspond with the tokens present in the First page template: (project) lyricist and (project) composer (the denomination of the field is not relevant: you can write whatever you need in the fields, but they need to correspond to the tokens that live in the page template).

And realize that one can always do this on a copy of the file to preserve the original until one has the revision ready to take over.

Thank you both for your help. I have another question: Even though I have not completed note entry for the project, I would like to know how to have 2 systems on each page. Do I adjust the system spacing of page 1 manually or is there another way? And the following pages to have 2 systems on each page.

At least delete all frame breaks. A frame break is equal to a page break.

In Layout Options > Staves and Systems > Casting Off, you can specify a number of systems per frame.

And happy cake day!

Thanks Aaron. Happy WWW Cake Day to you too. Do you know that National Cake Day is Nov. 28?

Aw, missed my birthday by a day!

But I was referring to this:

The forum displays a cake next to your avatar on the anniversary of your joining.

LOL. Thanks. Thanks to pros like you, I’ve come a long way with Dorico.

I did a Siri search about Cake Day:

Today is not National Cake Day, which is actually celebrated annually on November 26. However, in popular internet culture—particularly on platforms like Reddit—“Cake Day” refers to the anniversary of the day a user created their account.

National Cake Day

National Cake Day is celebrated every year on November 26. It is an unofficial holiday dedicated to enjoying and sharing cake of all kinds, from layered birthday cakes to simple sheet cakes.

Other Cake-Related Holidays

If you are looking for an excuse to celebrate sooner, there are several other cake-themed days throughout the year:

  • National Chocolate Cake Day January 27

  • National Carrot Cake Day February 3

  • National Lemon Chiffon Cake Day March 29

Probably TMI and not appropriate for this forum. ; )

Hi @jk3horn, to answer to your question (beside the suggestions above), I made an example layout for your Project.

Actually using letter paper size for such a score is very little. But I maintained the letter size (please be aware that the needed space size in this page format is tool little for readability if you want 2 systems per page: you may want to use a bigger page size and adapt the other options accordingly) and I did reset the layout in Engrave mode, changed several layout options and the default text paragraph style (distance from staff to 1) so that you have 2 systems per page automatically.

You can use the Library Manager (from menu Library) to compare this file with your original one, to see the options I changed:

Library Manager comparisons: these are relatively extreme values, as just an example on how to obtain 2 staves in letter page size in your situation:

Thank you very much. Your work is beautiful. What size paper do you recommend?

I am not familiar with the Page Sizes used in USA. Here in Europe you could use A3.

Below I adapted my last layout proposal to A3. I set the Staff Size to 5mm, which is still acceptable. These are the things that I changed (visualised in Library Manager):

(I also removed the staff text offsets…)

If you want to keep two systems per page for the first flow, you’re probably going to need 11x17 here in the US. On letter size paper, the first flow looks fine with one system per page, and you can do three per page (2 on the first page) for flow 2 if it’s just the horns.

Correction: The first Tuesday in March. Or the first Sunday in October. (You never specified the nation. Though of course, that means a 99% chance that you’re American.)

Yes I’m American. I got the Nov. 26 info from an AI result. The reason for the mention of cake day is that it’s the 1 year anniversary of my joining this forum.

Wouldn’t 10X13 work well for a score in landscape and portrait?

I was just thinking of standard sizes, but sure, there are other (music-standard) sizes that you could use.

A3 size is equal to 11.69x16.54 inches which is close to 11X17 inch paper but not a size for the typical “home” printer.

Did you do any manual vertical spacing to get my score to fit on the 8.5x11 inch format in the copy-edited version?

No manual staff spacing was applied. I reduced slightly the bottom page margins as well as the other global layout options and the customised distance from staff in the Default Text paragraph style used by some of your staff text, as you can see in the screenshots of my post for that version.

The screenshot app, cleanshot, is interesting. Do you use that often?
