Multiple Instruments on the One Stave

Hi - I’ve searched the database but no luck. My ambition is to have a Player with one stave (not multiple staves in Write as this is too unwieldy) but with several instruments that can be changed with a Playing Technique command. Eg. Violin Player, with VST four instruments (arco, pizza, harmonic and vibrato) from my Sine and Aria instrument banks. Is this possible in Dorico? Thanking you in advance, Quincy

Yes. You can have Dorico change the MIDI channel when a particular technique is activated.

This is done via the Expression Map. You can set an Absolute Channel Change e.g. “play channel 2”, or a Relative Channel Change e.g. “play the next channel”.

E.G. I have an Electric Guitar with Channel 1 = clean and Channel 2 = dist. When my dist. Playing Technique is applied, it switches up one channel, and then when it finishes, it goes back one channel.

Specifically the Actions section.

Thank you so very much Daniel - you’re a gift from the gods! That really is so helpful.

I actually made a joke about that once and the person bought me a white hat with a picture of a piano and “G G” written on either side.

Funnily enough, my head was actually too big for the hat.
