Multiple Techniques (concurrent staves) in Choral Writing

Hello,

Quoting from Elaine Gould:
“[In a situation when there is more than an] occasional vocal effect, and when the singer is asked to produce percussive sounds while singing (e.g. Clapping), place the contrasting noteheads on a separate line above the stave.”

How could this writing be best created in Dorico, ideally with section players? I would be thankful for any suggestions.

Kind regards,

Matouš

For this kind of notation specifically, you’ll need to be using Dorico 5 so that you can create a single-line pitched instrument using the new instrument editor, and you’ll need to use single players because section players can’t handle multiple instruments. If you have two pitched instruments held by the same player you can cross notes between them freely.
