Hello forums,
(note: I have screenshots for every step of the process but new uses can only attach one screenshot per post :<)
(note 2: I can’t add screenshots in additional replies without getting put in the mod mail
)
Ultimately, my goal is create a multi-percussion score that closely resembles this:
Where on a 5 line stave, there are multiple, independent voices present at once. Currently, this is very difficult to do (and at times seemingly impossible).
Hitting create new voice, adding a 16th note triplet and inputting the three notes leaves the figure looking like this:
Where a the triplet bracket appears, but in reality, Dorico just adds a 16th note. This does not look like a triplet, and playback plays this as 16th note.
Next, if you highlight only the triplet notes meant for voice 2 and move them to a new voice using Percussion→Change Voice→Extra Down-Stem Voice it looks like this:
This looks whack, and I didn’t cut off the beaming on the down-stem voice. They really look like quarter notes with really short stems. Not only that, the down-stem notes are unable to be beamed together.
My next attempt was to duplicate the percussion player, create the second voice and cut and paste into the original part. Which looks like this:
This at least has all the notes and voices where they are supposed to be, but looks absolutely awful. With more playing around with moving notes with the percussion change voice option and forcing stems, you can get to a point that looks (and playsback) correctly:
There has to be a better way. Right? There must be something I’ve missed. I’d really like to be able to input multiple voices on a percussion stave the same way you could a piano or other instruments.
