Music text

Hello!
I 'd like to type (in a shift+X-text thing)
[4 beamed 16th notes] folowed by [=] and then [3 beamed triple 8th notes]

How do I do that?

The easiest way is probably to use the MusGlyphs font.

Metrico is another option. Slightly different, more limited, but works as well for this kind of music text.

Is that all in Dorico? I’m sorry, I’m really really bad with computers. When I right click in a shift-X opoup, I see insert music text. Then I can see categories, like “beamed groups of notes” I think it should be possible with that tool, but I can’t figure out how.

MusGlyphs or Metrico fonts are not provided by Dorico, you must download it/them. Then you will be able to use them. As far as I know, you cannot get what you are looking for with the native insert music text, while it is very easy with the above mentionned fonts:

I have no idea how to download a font. I think I’ll first wait for someone to chime in here and explain how I use the music text option in Dorico. I know it’s there, I just can’t figure out how to use it to get this kind of graphics. It really should be possible, all the items are there.

Here is how it is explained in the MusGlyphs documentation. At least for Windows it is very easy! I guess for Mac too.

Unfortunately, as of now, it is not.

I believe you, of course. But strange, when you look at all the symbols, like brackets and "3"s for triples … I really wonder what you CAN do with that …
I’m gonna try the MusGlyphs…
