Musical mode + file tempo issues

I still find odd behavior in the Musical Mode. I know a lot of you seem to say I do things wrong. So what did I do wrong now?

  1. I have a project in 102bpm.
  2. I Export my mix to a wav file.
  3. I create a new project and set it to 102bpm.
  4. I drag in the wav file from Step 2.
  5. I apply Musical Mode and the file goes out of whack.
  6. I check the Pool, and Cubase says the file exported in Step 2 is 120.89 bpm.

Am I crazy or is this a Cubase bug?

It’s not a bug.
When you export be sure to flag “insert tempo definition”.

The imported file will bring the original tempo definition in the pool.

To add to Puli’s direction, which is the way you should do it, you can also fix the file tempo in the Pool window. In your case just double click on the tempo of that file at 120.89 and change it to 102…hi-lite and type it in. It won’t change the tempo of the file; it will just recognize the tempo and make your changes based on that tempo.
