As I’m working on setting a musical theatre score/book, I have encountered the following questions:
How do I enter an attacca from the end of one flow to the beginning of the next? (i.e., I need a courtesy key change, a courtesy meter change, and a text block right-justified below the end of the staff to indicate “attacca” or “segue as one” etc.).
Is it possible to have bars in the score that don’t show in the parts? Example: We decide to skip bars 3 & 4 and jump from 2 to 5 in the parts without deleting bars 3 & 4 from the score (keeping the score intact in case the bars are reinserted later) and not showing bars 3 & 4 in the parts AND having the bar numbers remain the same (i.e., 1, 2, 5, 6 etc.). Kind of like how software coding has a “commenting” feature to exclude blocks of code.
instead of Repeat marker, you can use also staff-attached text positioned below (you can duplicate the staff text to all staves, and then hide them locally in the full score, leaving only the bottom one)
you need to put a Split multi-bar rests just after the first beat of the last bar with removed rest, for the rest to be successfully removed in parts)
instead of the customised tick barline, you can use the Notation options to have an invisible barline at the end of the desired flow/s
you can create a duplicate flow (as backup) with all the bars, then check and uncheck them strategically for the full score and part layouts. Better explained with a short video :
(sorry, in my video example, beside the flow title being deactivated in layout options, there were no customised flow titles, so that changing the flow name in Setup lower panel, synchronise the flow name and title. This would not be happen if the flows, as normally is the case, have already some custom titles)
