MusicXML File not importing Title, Subtitle or other text

I have several templates that I would like to import from Finale to Dorico, however the information for the Title and other text aren’t imported. Instead, the name of the file is put as the title without any of the other text as written in the original document.

In the original Finale file, are the title, subtitle, arranger and other text blocks using inserts populated from the file info tab in the score manager window? Or are they simply typed onto the page?

They’re all typed on the page.

It makes little sense to import Finale templates to Dorico. Just create them from scratch in Dorico. It is quite easy to do.

I’m not at my computer, but I believe if you want Dorico to intelligently know what text is the title, subtitle, arranger, etc., that info needs to be set in the score manager window in the original Finale file. It’s analogous to the project info dialogue in Dorico.

Thanks - I thought that might be the answer. There is so much formatting in the Finale files (ie lyric baselines) that I was hoping not to have to start from scratch. I’m just starting out and feeling overwhelmed with the hundreds (thousands?) of files I need to import, so I thought I’d start with something easy to import. I guess all of my files will have this problem :weary:
