Obviously, many folks are recently importing Music XML files into Dorico. For you experienced users, what preferences seem to work best for you in the MusicXML Imports Preferences section. At first I checked almost all of them which caused some problems. I recently went in and unchecked almost all of them and that is causing different problems. I mostly work with Concert Band and Orchestral Scores and can’t figure out which of those parameters are best left unchecked and which are advantageous to have checked.
Most of the things that are checked put ‘overrides’ (Force Duration, Manual Beaming, etc, etc) on every item, meaning that Dorico’s own options then don’t work (until you reset/remove/clear…)
Not sure this is helpful, but if some parts of it are better from having checked various options, then you could conceivably do both, use the unchecked one as the main score, but copy/replace as necessary any problem areas. I have not tried this (with Dorico) but might work.
