Mute button on drums acting weirdly Cubase-15-Pro

As you can see, my mute button on my drums is flickering weirdly. It is affecting the playback and the recording is when I have no hands on my keyboard. I forcequit and reopened the project and it is still not working. Any help would be apreciated.

In your video it looks like Cubase isn’t playing at all while this is happening. Is that the case?

If so, that would rule out rogue automation data.

I’d be suspicious of any hardware controllers you might have connected (either via MIDI Remote, Generic Remote, or Mackie protocol), especially on the cheap end. I once had a nanoKontrol who’s knobs physically jiggled around just sitting there.

It’s not playing and I have zero cords connected to my mac.

Could that possibly come from the computer keyboard (M key)? Does switching off/unplugging the keyboard help?

Does it only affect that particular track? What happens when you select another track?

There’s not a Stream Deck connected to your computer?

Like @ASM is suggesting–it’s worth looking to see if you’ve got a stuck/defective key on your keyboard.

It only affects that track and it it continues even when I switch tracks. There is nothing connected to my computer (wired or bluetooth), and I was using my built in computer, and the m key is working well.

Try changing that All MIDI Inputs to Not Connected.

It’s not connected and it still acts weird when I turn off recording.

I thought I would add another video to add some more context.

Can you go into Studio Setup and click on the Input Monitor for each of your devices, clear the list, and see if anything is streaming through there while it’s stopped?

I did it and nothing has changed.

It’s not supposed to change anything–it’s to find what is sending those messages. You should click on each of those Input Monitor icons in your setup while the issue is occurring, and see if any MIDI messages are coming through.

What I did was a reset but I have no external devices added so I cannot access this screen.

You can’t access Cubase “Studio Setup?” That doesn’t seem right.

Maybe some software on your machine is sending MIDI messages. You could try looking in Audio Midi Setup (the MacOS program) at your Midi Studio. What’s in there?

No I can access the Studio Setup but I cannot get to input moniter.

This is what it looks like.

On the problematic Track add a MIDI Monitor on one of its MIDI Inserts. Does it show any activity?

I would start by deleting the offending track to see if the rest of the project work ok.

Then I would create a new project and setup only one track with the same preset as you deleted in the close project.

What do you see then?

I tried it with the preset and it still flashes.

What did you start with the preset? It’s a very unaccurate discribtion of what you did!
