Muting An Audio Track Disables Recording

I was experimenting with the Loopback feature of my Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 recently, and discovered that I could not record into a muted audio track. Is this a bug or is it expected behavior?

Hi,

I can record into a muted track here on my side.

I just tried this, and I can record into a muted audio track that isn’t getting input from the Focusrite Scarlett loopback bus. But when the track is getting input from the Focusrite Scarlett loopback bus, it only works if the track is not muted.

An unmuted track getting input from the Focusrite Scarlett loopback bus can cause dangerously loud feedback if the output bus of the track is not set to “No Bus”. Focusrite specifically warns you to mute any track you are recording into from their loopback bus, but that seems not to work in Cubase. You have to set the output to “No Bus”, and once you have done that you can safely unmute the track.

This is Cubase 12.0.52, running in Windows 10.
