These new lanes (?) cumulatively increase the vertical size of my workflow by 33%, and I never want or need to see it, since the “M” button works just fine for seeing whether or not a track is muted.
I can make the new lane (?) go away (Right click > Remove parameter) but that only works just the once. If I mute and/or unmute the track again, it gets inserted/shown again.
How do I get rid of this? I’ve looked through the “Preferences” and “Track controls” but haven’t found any setting to automatically show or hide this annoying, unnecessary clutter.
That’s an automation lane. To simply mute the track you just hit the M on the top left. To remove the automation lane turn off the R’s, ctrl+left click, or maybe Ctrl+ right click, the lane and choose remove.
As I said in my original post, removing the lane once is easy, but it keeps coming back every time I mute and unmute the track. I want to get rid of it forever.
Open the Automation Panel (F6 by default) and there switch to the Settings tab.
On the left hand side there should be an option for creating a new lane for the last touched parameter. Switch it off.
