I’m new to Cubase 8. When recording lots of takes, I see the takes are recorded in seperate lanes which all have a solo button. The Mute (X) tool only seems to mute/unmute the last take when I’m playing back. With Cubase 8, are the solo buttons to be used for auditioning lanes/takes instead of the mute tool?

Yes, the Solo Lane button is useful, if you listen thru the takes, and you want to hear the one take.
Thanks - I think Preferences “Treat Muted parts as Deleted” (or similar) was what I really needed. The mute tool seems to work as it did with Cubase 5 using that option.
