No need for a switch, the high impedance input (Hi-Z) does the same already.
What you mean with that? There is no high gain switch.
Phantom power is only relevant to the Mic input.
Irrelevant to your problem. It requires power, no matter where it comes from.
It is expected if you switched Direct Monitor on. If it’s off, the DAW will do monitoring.
Again, this is irrelevant to your situation.
If your input is configured as a stereo input, the Hi-Z part would be the right channel. Not the left. It would be better to configure two mono inputs.
i found a written and youtube method. they seem to mention input 1 and input 2 as mono. i am only plugging my guitar into one input.. anyway.. i will follow the instructions and see.
The basic is to completely understand your system and what are you doing (i.e. if you plug something into some input what to be set in DAW etc.). I see too many gaps in here so in this way asking Google, AI or whatever may bring some results but definitely NOT the understanding - so you become lost anytime in the future even in the same or a bit different situation.
So you should know what are your sondcards possibilities, how it behaves in Audio system (i.e. port names) and how you configure you Audio Inputs/Outputs in Cubase (to know visually - in menus - what port on your soundcard you intend to use).
Then you do not need to ask the internet on 99% of situations.
Hmm….well - the basement is computer and software and we all know a lot of kinda strange stories… but AFAIK this Audio system is really straightforward and I did not know about “it suddenly stopped recording even the meters are working…” situations where the SW/HW was the problematic point.
Thus I am sure there is nothing wrong with either HW or SW here, just the configuration. Or the signal source as mentioned above..
it’s an acoustic electric. a 1965 guild starfire. my guess is that the brain in the pickup is trying to work with a technology which wouldn’t be invented for another 40 years , lol
today, i couldn’t hear anything . i first re-installed my interface firmware driver. i see that my audio ASIO was set to AGGRGATE, which i have no idea how that happened.
i changed it back to UR12. i then opened up AUDIO CONNECTIONS, and i see an INPUT 2 MONO listed !!!. and my guitar is OK now…
Yesterday, i had only STEREO inputs !!! and was going to follow the instructions on adding some mono busses. so i have no idea what changed or if i somehow did…
all of a sudden, i have mono inputs along with the previously noted stereo inputs. don’t know how that happened. i didn’t even add busses as i was supposed to.. i did re=install the firmware.. but i doubt that’s why… i did today see that my ASIO driver was set to AGGREGATE ! which i’m sure i didn’t do… (of course, i couldn’t hear any sound like that).
i changed it back to ur12.i’ve been using cubase since i think version 4 and i have lost so much hair scratching my head with never-ending anomalies (like fantom notes playing on a track) anyway now i have mono inputs and my guitar is fine
