My MIDI Keybord Yamaha P85 is active in Studio/Midi Port, but I have no midi signal in Cubase 13

I was using Cubase 13 from June 2023. normaly everything worked well. Then I changed the Midi keybord, from Clavinova CL920 to Yamaha P85, and I lost midi signal. Now when I tried to go back to Clavinova, there is also no midi signal.
When I enter MIDI PORT in Studio, I see that midi is active, but I can’t do nothing. I tried to inset new midi tracks and record and play, nothing is happening.
I have ICON Midi port (midi to usb) cable, the led light on the cable is on, and when I connect the midi keybord to computer there is a sound, to me it’s the sign that it is alive.

Please, if anyone could help I would be so grateful.

Hi,

Could you attach a screenshot of the Studio > Studio Setup > MIDI Ports Setup window, please?

Here is MIDI Ports Setup window!

Hi,

Which device is named “USB MIDI Interface”? If you plug all the devices in, I would expect more MIDI Inputs.

When I disconnect my midi keybord Yamaha p85, there is no more midi inputs left in Midi Ports Window, so that’s I guess the name of my midi keybord.

Hi,

You can change the name in the Show As column.

Double-check, the MIDI Port is not in use as Mackie Control Input, or Track/VST Quick Controls input.

Could you attach a screenshot of the Preferences > MIDI > MIDI Filter, please? By default, only the SysEx data are filtered out for both, the Record and Thru.

Here it is!

Hi,

This is correct.

What about this, please?

I’m not sure that I know how to check that?

Hi,

Open Studio > Studio Setup > Mackie Control, Track Quick Controls and VST Quick Controls. Ensure, the MIDI Input Ports of these devices are not set to USB MIDI Interface, please.

No they aren’t it’s written NOT CONNECTED in all tree, Mackie Control, Track Quick control and VST Quick Controls.

Hi,

There is no MIDI or Instrument Track in the project, you sent the screenshot from.

Could you try clicking on the MIDI Monitor in the Studio Setup > MIDI Ports Setup window to see if there is any MIDI data coming in?

There is no midi data in midi monitor, I tried to record midi track and there is no data at all. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Hi,

That means the MIDI data are not received by Cubase at all.

Is there any settings, you have to do on the hardware, to send the MIDI data to the USB (not MIDI Out, if there is any)?

Are you 100% sure you connected the right cable up when you swapped keyboards.

This is the cable, same thing as I used with other keyboard, now I don’t have signal with other keyboard too when I swap it back. It’s interesting though the device is active in Midi ports window.

I tried million times to restart everything, to disconnect and connect again, to plug it in PC and also in audio interface Mini fuse, nothing works.

I tried to plug in MINILAB 3 controller, and there it sends signal in Cubase, so I guess there is no problem with settings in hardware, just with those two keyboards that are my main tool for playing and recording. Could it be the cable, it doesn’t seem to be dead, as the devices are active in MIDI ports.

Yeah…so I believe you’re output is plugged in to the output of the interface. Swap the 2 5 pins around.

There is no output, it’s MIDI to USB cable.
