My opinion on VST LIVE

Thank you!!!

I also have usability issues regarding the many clicking i have to do in VST Live to get a song setup with all parts and their correct lengths.

Could you add an option to export/import some human readable files like json?
I tried opening the tempo .mprjtempo, song .vlsong and project .mediaprj but they seem to be binary data.

Any chance you could give a hint how to read and edit those in a text editor?

My usecase is the following. I write sheet music in guitar pro or musescore, sometimes musicXML. I would like to have a easy method to make changes i made to the sheets (e.g. repeat bars 5-8 2x more, or change tempo or add a bar here and there) reflect in the VST live song with out editing all the part numbers by hand again.

Since I am a software delevoper any readable file format would do, i can do the hacking myself then

Hi @heavy-matill,

It’s not possible to edit those files.

I guess we need to find why it’s not possible for you to get those tasks done? You are talking about the TRACKS area? They you have a Tempo- and Signature track. To the left there is an inspector showing you all the tempo and signatures events. Select an event and you are able to edit it.
To Repeat a specific range, just mark the events and duplicate them.

Where can I help? What’s missing?
Michael.

…which was a user request, and makes sense when your workflow is “add same settings and modify for the next verse”.. ymmv, though imho this is the most straightforward.

FlexLoop repeat

Don’t understand. Yes, if you want to modify you need to make a copy/duplicate, but 3 volumes don’t require 30 parts?

well we can’t make it right for everyone, but if you follow this forum you should see that we respond to your input much more than the usual.

We try to cover what is requested by the majority. For special wishes it depends on what those are. Sure, sometimes there are discussions about what is essential; for us, stability is prio one, then bugs (things don’t work as supposed to) sorted by severity/workaround, and so forth. Sometimes we need to refuse wishes for the time beeing, because that wish is very hard to implement, or because there are multiple requests for other wishes. We try our best to sort as efficiently as possible; whether that meets your needs is up for you to decide. Let us know which of your needs are not met by VST Live.
