My piano VST plays notes and chords at the same time, I don't know why

Hello everyone.

I have a problem with my piano VSTs on Cubase. From the E2 to C7 key, everything is normal, when I play D#2 to A#1 there is no more sound, when I play from A1 to C1 it gives me chord combinations, and from B0 to A-1 it becomes normal again.

I tested with 1 Halion Sonic piano vst and a Kontakt piano vst, the problem is the same.
In terms of keyboard I tried with my Komplet control M32 and also with a Yamaha CK88 connected to midi DIN, the problem is the same.
And when I click on the piano keys of the vst with the mouse there is no problem, everything is normal…

I didn’t have this problem before and I don’t know where to look anymore. Thank you for your lights.

Cubase version : 13.0.30
Mac version : Ventura 13.6.4

You don’t happen to have a chord track in the project linked to the VST ? Or Chord pads enabled?

Is it possible that Chord Pads are active and that the range where the issue occurs is the range of notes assigned to Chord Pads?

I haven’t used Chord Pads myself, and the only place I’ve seen an issue where chords are mysteriously being played (in addition to the notes I’m playing) are when the Chord track is set to play through the track with focus and isn’t muted. (I mainly use the Chord track for my own information, rather than for playing chords, though I’ll occasionally use it for playing chords when working out a song. So I need to remember to mute the chord track most of the time, but sometimes I accidentally unmute it and wonder why I’m getting extra notes – that happened to me yesterday, in fact, when a track with no MIDI on it at all was suddenly playing chords.)

Thanks @rickpaul , you’re right.
My instrument tracks were routed to “chord pads”, and I have no idea why because I never use it. So to deactivate it I did the following:

  • Go to the instrument track
  • Inspector > routing
  • Input channel > all midi input (not chords pads)
    Thanks for your help
