My problem with V15.0.30

Just for the record. Wanted to relay my experience with Cubase 15.0.30.

Have been a Cubase user since V6. I’ve been in IT for approximately 30 years. So have built all of my Windows based studio DAWs. My current system is powerfull and stable. It’s a dedicated DAW system. I don’t even connect to the internet unless I need downloads or updates etc.

So Cubase version 15.0.21 was running just fine for me. As I always do, I waited a little while before upgrading to V15.0.30.

Well, right off the bat- on VST intrument tracks, I was experiencing random CPU spikes as per my performance meter. Some would trigger overload (red). Performed troubleshooting. Removed any effects on the tracks. Checked all usual suspects. Even updated my MB chipset drivers etc. Checked RME for any updates for my audio interface etc.

After googling and trying different things for several hours. I decided to go back to V15.0.21.. AND. All is good again. Very stable. No spikes.

Just for the record

I would test by loading the latest version in Safe Mode. Disable user preferences in Safe Mode.

Once you get to the Hub, choose load empty project.

Then create an instrument track. Thats the most bare bones test I can think of. If that looks and sounds good, then add stuff. Process of elimination.

Thanks Greg for the reply and advice.

When I get time, I’m going to give it another try. I’ll keep you guys posted.
