My project does not activate in Dorico 5.1.60. I have Dorico set to activate projects automatically when they are opened but it doesn’t activate. And if I press the activation button I get the spinning wheel and Dorico stops responding. I have tried many things. If I open the project and try to close it or try to quit Dorico, Dorico stops responding.
Finally I rolled back to Dorico 5.1.51 and then the project activates and playback normally again.
Would you please do from Dorico’s menu Help > Create Diagnostic Report and post the corresponding zip file here? Thanks a lot.
And did this happen only to this one project, or also others?
I’m encountering this exact problem in a big project of mine right now. The Dorico project opens but the instruments won’t load - even if I leave the project alone for 10 minutes. If I hit the activate button, Dorico goes into spin-ball mode.
@Ulf, would you mind if I DM’d you the diagnostic report?
Hi @lilycat ,
thanks for the diagnostics. Contained are 8 crash files of the Vienna Organ Player plug-in. The crash is always at the same location.
If you unzip your diagnostics, you will find a Crashes folder and in there the 8 crash files (*.ips). Send one of them to the guys at VSL, only they can analyse and fix the bug.
What you can do in order to continue working on your project is, move out the bundle /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Vienna Organ Player.vst3 from that VST3 folder. Dorico won’t complain on project load and simply leave the instrument slot empty respectively indicates with exclamation marks around the name that it could not load the plug-in.
You then replace it with a different instrument, e.g. HALion Sonic, into which you also load an organ sound patch. That might not sound as good as the Vienna Organ, but better have some kind of sound rather than no sound at all.
