Hi Sunnyman, thanks for reporting. As you know there are many new features and improvements coming along with this version. Please be aware that many threads have been created especially when a new major version is appearing. In these threads users report issues, wishes, suggestions etc. So in that case we are trying to collect most of these issue reports but also make sure that these issues are reproducible. Currently the main issue is the correct AI unmix support GPU support which is mostly related to AMD based GPU graphic cards. So other very common GPU types such as Nvidia RTX based GPU are working in that case and more AI modules will be supported for GPU processing. Other reported issue reports are under investigation.
What about improving the quality aspect? This should come first, imho.
We are always trying to improve the quality aspect as well as in case of fixing issues which are reproducible reported by customers.
Well, it seems the quality control did not work out so good with the first release…
I wonder why?
SL 12.0.0 Build 421 is a pocket full of bugs.
I have not encountered any bugs as yet (Win 11 and Nvidia GPU -SL 12.0.0 Build 421). I guess it all depends on your system.
It is certainly a big improvement over SL 11. I have unmixed 4 or 5 live band recordings which certainly have much less artifacts and the bass stem is certainly better. Much less cleanup is necessary for all stems. I tried the AI voice regeneration on some vocals and that worked quite well - which was a nice surprise.
I encountered a “oversight” though which has not been acknowledged as yet

“Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.”
@Sunnyman
No one forced you to upgrade and there should be a little apprecience for a lot of hard work gone into this release.
To blame it on a lapse in quality control is at best ignorant.
Beta testing is done with a small group of people compared to the user base at release.
With a plethora of different configurations there are bound to be problems for some people.
If you experience bugs you should describe what it and how to test it for others to verify.
If verified @Robin_Lobel will do his best to release fixes as soon as.
Just complaining and blaiming isn’t very productive and isn’t helping anyone, not least you.
Have a nice day.
Well, I reported several bugs already.
Fact is: SL in its current state as release 12.0.0. will soon be followed by 12.0.1/2/3…
SL is too good of a concept to have so many bugs and quirks!
And yes, I do expect high quality from Steinberg. Steinberg produces serious software for serious people. If this is too much to expect,… okay
What’s it all about, if not even simple moduls like the signal generator work flawless?
And all the driver trouble… year, nothing new here.
To clear the issue: I am not blaming Robin for anything. SL is an ingenious piece of software art - there is no question about that.
Steinberg is responsible for the software quality.
Testing SL12 here on a new build, haven’t encountered any “bugs” yet, so I’d be interested in hearing about them. All working smooth and stable. Happy with the new features that I’ve had time to try out!
Excuse me Shortstop " No one forced you to upgrade" Sunnyman is a customer who has paid money for a product that is not what is advertised “yet”.
As a long time Steinberg customer I shall patiently wait a few weeks for the next update, but if Steinberg keep using paying customers as beta testers then those customers should be allowed to complain without your pointless nonsense.
Answer this, if you bought a new large screen television and found you could not access the usual apps on it, would you be happy if some said “nobody forced you to buy a new TV”
Most everyone on here understands software, and they don’t need to be patrionised either. Cheers.
I wish Cubase had fewer bugs than SL has…but I can understand your frustration.
