I’m almost finished a big band transcription and suddenly mysterious whole rests have appeared in the drum part both above and below slash regions. I have entered several playing techniques in the drum part and clicked show other voices in the bottom menu to make them visible. Here’s the weirder part is not only have they just appeared after not being present the whole time I’ve been working on this arrangement, but they don’t even appear through the whole drum part. Just the last 23 measures. Has anyone experienced this before and has a fix. Thanks for help and advice.
Does selecting the last 23 measures and using Edit → Remove Rests help? If not, usually people upload a minimal/redacted example that still shows the undesired behavior.
Thanks for that suggestion. It worked perfectly. Here’s the weird thing, though. When I opened the file this morning those rests had vanished. However, when I inserted a dynamic marking in the drum part seven bars from the end those whole rest reappeared under (and over) the drum part. When I used your suggestion they disappeared. Thanks again!
If you’d like further insights into what’s going on here, it would probably be best if you’re able to share the file (or at least an alternative version of it that just contains enough material to demonstrate the issue) – when there are project-specific problems, they’re generally tricky to diagnose via telepathy!
