N10.3 not compatible with N11

Trying to open a 10.3 session in N11 in latest Windows 10.
Not working. Immediate crash
Anyone else had this issue ?

N10.3 vs N11

Cheers,
S.

works here as expected

I’ve tried to disable/rename VST (2-3) plugin folders to no avail.
Still N11 crashes on this 10.3 session. Anything else I could try?
S.

Can you still open the session in 10.3?
If so, save-as and try again.

You can try to import the tracks into a new session.
If you do this one by one, you can figure out which track causes problems,

Good suggestion Fredo thx !
The re-save trick did not work.
The track import one-by-one did the trick!
Found out that a track with the Nuendo Chopper plugin inserted did the crashing.
Something to do with versions ?
N10.3 → Chopper Version 1.2
N11-> Chopper version 1.4

Did we discover a bug here ?

S.

Did some further testing as we use this Chopper plugin a lot.
I can reproduce this crash repeatedly.

Repro:
New Blank N11 Session.
Create stereo Audio track.
Insert Chopper plugin in slot.
Turn off sync in “chopper” plugin.
Crank up the lfo speed.
Result → instant crash.

Someone care to test this ?

S.

Stevie,

I will report this.
No prob.

Fredo

Stevie,

I can not reproduce this.
Chopper created in a 10.3 project opens just fine in N11.
Tried to create crash as described above: no luck.

Strange …Did the exact thing this morning.
New session in N11
New track with Chopper as an insert, turn off ‘sync button’ in the plugin and crank up the lfo rate…boom crash
?
This is the crashdump file https://we.tl/t-RPUS9IGA8i
Can this help ?
Cheers,

Yeah, this helps.
Will pass it on to the developers.

Thanks
Fredo

An interesting line in the Cubase release notes for 11.0.30, posted today:
Cubase 11 Release Notes | Steinberg

We have improved the stability in several areas of the application:
[...]
When using the Chopper plug-in with a high ASIO buffer size.

Yup.
Just got word from development.
There is indeed a problem with Chopper and High buffer sizes.

Will be fixed in the -shortly coming- N11.0.30 update.
