N10 crashes on project load of N8

Nuendo 10 is crashing on many projects that were created in N8. Anyone seeing this? It creates a crash dump file but I don’t have a reader to tell me what’s happening.

Yes - there have been changes made with how plugins load so some which worked in N8 simply crash N10.

Is there a way to figure out which plugins are crashing N10? I will try to look for a dmp reader so I can read the log. here is the crash report. I’m not sure this tells me anything. i was hoping it would list the plugin that caused the crash.

I opened a few more crash dmp files. Looks like I need to contact Plugin Alliance. Schoeps Mono Upmix appears to have a problem loading, but only sometimes.

I usually remove them from the vst plugins folder a few at a time until the project loads. Painstaking, but you can narrow it down pretty quickly…

Yes, I have done that in the past when i ran into major crashes. it always ended up being a third party plugin who’s VST3 implementation was faulty in some way. Makes me wonder why I don’t use the VST2 versions more.

Same here. I’m just gonna finish those projects in N8.

I always did like k5000. What I mean is that I never tried to transfer a project from one version to another. I always finish my sessions on the version I started and then when I have a new project? I’m working on the new version. Maybe that’s why I never had a problem. In the case of N10. I bought it, installed it, did some tests, found no problems and I expect to finish everything on N8 before really start on N10. so? finish your current projects on N8 and start new projects on N10 and in my opinion. everything should work.
