N12 install-will N12 look for N11 settings on a external back up drive

I’m doing an install of N12 on a new computer and want to see if the installer sees and pulls settings from my previous N11 on my old Mac. If I plug an external backup drive from my old Mac will the N12 installer look for the settings and import into the new n12 install and do the install on the new computer? I’ve only done installs in the past with older versions on the same computer and drive.

Nuendo does not automatically look for settings. {on another drive}
You’ll have to copy them over afterwards, and some may be different, being as it is a major update…

It definitely does, if the installer can see the prefs folder.

To have it not do that, hide all the prefs folders by temporarily moving them. (Like to the Desktop or Documents folder)

After installation, you can move them back.

Does it do it automatically from a different drive than the installer? That was the OPs question…

I answered the way I did to avoid confusion for someone who arrives at this topic through a search.

Of course no program’s installer or first run routine looks searches through a backup disk for config folders.
