N14 Track selection follows event selection doesn't work with combined selection tool

Hi,

I use the option “track selection follows event selection”. It works when I use the selection tool or the range tool.
But when I use the “combined selecton tool” (I’m not sure it’s named like that because I work in a german user interface, there it’s called “Auswahlwerkzeuge kombinieren”), the “Inspector” doesn’t follow the channel selection.
The “channel” tab on the left of the interface changes correctly, the mixer also follows the selection correctly. Only the inspector stays at the last selected track.

Can someone confirm this issue? And I hope it will be fixed with the next update.

Not seeing that here… have you tested with prefs disabled?

do you mean with disabled “track selection follows event selection”? Yes, then it doesn’t change any channels at all, when selecting the events. That works as it should (exept from the behavoir in this thread but thats a different issue). But my problem is with enabled “track selection follows event selection”.
I made a short video showing my issue. Have a look at the “inspector” tab when I switch between the events. When disabling the “combined selection tools”, after one click it works as it should again:

I tested it on two different systems, the behavoir stays the same.

No, i meant Cubase Safe Mode – to open the Safe Mode dialog, launch Cubase, and hold down Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-Alt.

ah sorry okay I tried that now and it didn’t make a difference. It actually seems like it doesn’t change my preferences to default at all when I select “disable preferences”. I think there might be a bigger problem with my Nuendo installation… but it’s actually weird that I have the same issues on three different machines. I think I’m going to try a clean re-install of Nuendo 14 on my third machine (it’s my test-device anyways) and see if it helps with my problems. I also have this problem on two of three machines, so it might be worth a try. Maybe the import of the Nuendo 13 settings caused some troubles.

It works fine here. N14, Win11 (up-to-date) computer.

okay strange, I will delete all of my old preference folders and try a clean Re-Install. Seems like something is messed up here

You’re certain that the key command hasn’t changed? Have you tried manually using the undo arrows? Do you see your parameter changes appear in the Mixconsole History zone?

yes, I’m certain and manually using mixer-undo also didn’t work. The mixer-history is also empty even after for example a fader-change. Only inserting a plugin appears in the history which leads to only deleting the plugin when hitting ALT-Z

Okay, I tried a clean Re-Installation and removed all my preference folders. So I have a Default Nuendo setup now. I even didn’t let it scan third party VSTs.
When enabling “Track selection follows event selection” and enabling the “combined selection tools”, the selection in the upper part of an event (with the range tool) works now (most of the time, sometimes only on second click). But when I click on the events with the selection tool (in the lower half of an event), the issue is still there → The channel in the inspector doesn’t change. The channel tab, mixer and even channelsettings window do change correctly.
Can you @steve and @henrique_staino confirm that it works with both tools while using the “combined selection tools” option?

In Nuendo 13 it worked fine with both tools in the combined tools mode.

An additional note: MIDI events and the new Pattern events work fine. Only audio events cause this problem.
Can anyone else verify this problem? As I said, I tried different options, re-installing, deleting preferences, different machines (only Win though), always the same.

Hi @jojojojojojonas, thanks for reporting. I just tested it here and confirm this behavior -very strange. We’ll have a look into this.
Cheers Dirk
