N15.0.20- Corrupted my Template

I got the “Program is unstable…” crash repeatedly, half way when starting either a project, or a Template from the same project.

EDIT: this is in Win 10, latest 24H2.

Template came from N14.0.41, and it works fine on that version.

Some actions I took:

1. I sent all crashes to Steinberg, at restart of N15.0.20

  1. Tried previous versions of the Template and Project of the same Template, until I found an earlier one that does not crash. I had two previous back up versions of the Project and Template, also crashing.

  2. After crashing, I tried disabling all 3rd party plugins- still crashed again.

  3. When I was able to load a previous .npr that did not crash, I noticed I lost most Workspaces. I had the first 5 Workspaces left, from the original 12.

  4. I lost most Visibility presets; I had the first 5 out of the original 11 or so.

  5. I had to reload the RME audio Asio Configurations, which I have in presets.

  6. I tried also deleting all preferences, from the start crash window,

  7. I also tried “Install Again” N15.0.20 with Download Manager, but the Template and Project still crashed.

  8. I have backups and several versions of Templates and Projects of the Templates, so I only lost a few hours. Hours because both the two last Templates became corrupted, and I did not know until trying to load them.

  9. The old bug from N14.0.41 of resaving a Template, and the name disappears from the list, is still there.

  10. For some reason, I have a feeling that Omnivocal may be part of the problem, since it is the only extra plugin I did not have in the N14.0.41 Template.

EDIT: Template and Project only started crashing after resaved by N15.0.20.

The original N14.0.41 Template, or Project of the same Template load fine in N15.0.20.

I hope this info helps Steinberg.

I’m not experiencing the other issues you’re having but I can confirm the above occurred here last night on Nuendo 15.0.20. They only way I’ve found to retrieve it is to go to the template folder and double click on the offending template. Nuendo opens up and the template is back on the list. Oddly, this didn’t happen to me on V14.

Re-saving a 3rd time, brings the display of the template file back.

Step 1. Re-save template

Step 2. Re-save template a 2nd time- BUG: template name disappeared from the list in the selector box.

Step 3 type the exact same template name and press save

Step 4 it now asks you if you want to re-write the file

Step 5 re-save a 3rd time- now the template file name shows up again. This time it will display properly when re-saving, until you’re re-boot and restart Nuendo 15.0.20.

After rebooting and restarting Nuendo 15.0.20, if you go back back to Step 1, the same behaviour will occur.

You will get it back by retyping the same name when saving.

It’s a bug, no doubt.
