Somehow i can’t use crossfades in N15. The shortcut doesn’t work and in the right click menu crossfades are greyed out. Maybe someone have an idea what’s going on here?
In my setup crossfades are working as expected, I’m unable to reproduce any of these issues.
Hm, I can’t say, it’s all working here as it should.
It seems to be a bug/problem for years. Many users on the web, including this forum, reports the same problem for different Cubendo versions. I have to read all the threads for this topic, maybe I find a solution there.
Edit: When starting N15 in safe mode crossfades are working again, after switching back to my own settings they’re not. Any ideas?

You said the right click for Cross Fade is greyed out.
Are you sure that you are selecting events in the same track? If you are selecting events in different tracks, Cross Fade will not activate, therefore the greyed out Cross Fade in the menu.
This means your preferences are corrupt.
Nuendo Preferences folders are:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Nuendo X
Win: %appData% \Steinberg\Nuendo X_64
Where X is the Nuendo version number.
One basic way to reset corrupt Preferences to factory settings would be:
- Locate the Preferences Folder. For macOS: Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences/Nuendo X. For Windows: Go to %appData%\Steinberg\Nuendo X_64 (replace X with your version number).
- Backup the Preferences Folder. Rename the preferences folder (e.g., change it to ‘Nuendo X Backup’). This preserves your original settings. (If you have previous versions installed on the same computer rename their preferences folders too).
- Launch Nuendo. Since no existing preferences are found during the launch this forces the program to rebuild the Preferences folder, initialised with factory settings
- Restore Specific Settings. You can selectively copy files from your renamed backup folder to the new preferences folder.
Do this at your own risk.
It may be enough to leave just the defaults.xml file set to the new factory settings and replace all other files and folders with the originals found in the renamed backup Preferences folder.
For more details see: How do i delete preferences while still keeping as much as possible?
Thank you for these instructions. When I delete the preference permanently, do I loose every preference like visibility agents, shortcuts etc.?
Ive read somewhere that one could delete just a few code lanes regarding crossfades. Did someone already went the same route and could chime in?
Please see the 4 steps above. I’ve modified the procedure. At step 3, yes you initialise the preferences to factory settings BUT you have made a backup at step 2 by renaming the original Preferences folder. Step 2 is ESSENTIAL in order to retain your original preferences.
Following the 4 steps results in a renamed backup folder with your original preferences and a new preferences folder containing factory settings. Specific files / folders can now be moved between the renamed backup Preferences folder and the new factory Preferences folder, as desired.
Use at you own risk - and read the manual and all relevant Steinberg documentation before proceeding.
Please see the link provided above and please also see Steinberg and https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/115000245510-Preferences-of-Cubase-and-Nuendo
The 4 steps assume you know how to copy and manipulate files and folders. If not then I advise you seek a different solution elsewhere.
