N15 Issue - MediaBay: Selection lost on drag&drop to timeline

Previously, since MediaBay came out, I could highlight just the portion of a sound I wanted and drag it to the timeline from the Previewer. Just that part I selected would be trimmed in the timeline. Now in N15 the whole file drops in as though I didn’t highlight a selection.

Am I missing a preference or setting?

Confirmed! Works as expected in N14.

I got the same problem. Also Mediabay Aspects are not stored once you quit Nuendo.

Yes I can confirm this. I already reported to Devs hope it gets fixed in first maintenance update, very important basic feature

For what it’s worth, this is ok in C15.

Although, it is a pretty fiddly experience inside that little preview window… The many ‘tools’ keep switching or sticking as you hover/move around in there. It’s not consistent (here anyway) about how to enable and use them as desired.

But, it does work…

okay hopefully if it works in C15 that it will be easy to fix. I usually hit ctrl without holding to get the focus hand back on the region when it acts screwy before dragging in if that helps

In the meantime, I’ve been digging in to Orion SFX – pretty cool.

I can highlight a section of a sound and (holding option) drag only that section into N15, just like in N14. I do not get handles on the piece of audio that I drag in though.

interesting good to note. on windows no modifier does anything unfortunately, sounds like still broken without the handles though.

maybe a workaround (for now) can be slip editing your selection?

Experiencing the same behavior. I really hope they fix it soon, it’s too big of a workflow disrupter, I have to go back to N14 until it’s fixed.

Same issue here… N15.0.21 on WIN11.

Hoping this is fixed on next maintenance update.

Thank you!

I will keep lurking this thread until an update releases

I am antsy for that next bugfix

Huge +1 to this. This needs urgent attention.

Honestly, it feels like the development team genuinely thinks we’re all here making audio for 30-second TikTok clips, and that something like dragging a selected region of a background clip is a trivial feature. Try telling a sound designer that they need to cut a 10-second segment out of a 30-minute ambient file fifty times a day. And instead of simply working with a selection, they now have to drag the entire multi-gigabyte file onto the timeline every single time.

We’ve been waiting for a fix for this trivial bug for a month — a month of frustration and searching for clumsy workaround solutions. In that same time, Chinese teams design and release cars, and Codex or Antigravity writes a full day’s worth of code for a new OS in a day.

Dear developers, if your ears have been burning lately, don’t worry — that’s just us. The entire post-production community is sending you “waves of kindness” every time we’re forced to clutter our timelines with massive files just to extract a 2-second sound effect. Please restore our professional workflow.

Hey guys… heads up; the latest Cubase 15.0.30 release notes state this should all now be working again; Release note entry…

Media & Import

  • Dragging and dropping audio ranges from the MediaBay or Media Rack Previewer section now works as expected.

So should be good to go in the Nuendo 15.0.30 release too.! They are listening/paying attention…

LET’S GOOOOO! Finally! Thank you, devs!
