OK, slowly going round the bend here. Early days with Dorico but creating a new flute duet, Dorico says it automatically labels the instruments (1’2) if there is more than one, this is not happening. I tried to change them manually but that didn’t work. Any ideas please. Andy
Setup mode>Left panel (players). Open the player’s card (little triangle that rotates and the flute held by the player appears). A little … button is there at the right of the instrument : press that and Change instrument>Flute (yes, I know, there already was a flute in there, it seems nonsensical… but I suppose your file is an XML import, and these things seem to import well, but everything is not wired correctly under the hood. This ensures it’s correct.)
Repeat for the second instrument. Now, they should show as Flute 1 and Flute 2. There are options to show them as Flute I and Flute II (I don’t think it’s a good idea but who cares what I think?)
Hope it helps!
Hello Marc

I appreciate the shout-out, but the solution was definitely Marc’s, not mine.
