I need help — I can’t figure out why the track title is visible in the preview of the naming scheme, but after rendering it’s not there. What am I doing wrong? Render All Selected Clips"
Thanks
Title names are marker names, not clip names. Does that help?
Thanks for the reply. I understand that the title comes from markers, and that’s exactly why I use them — as additional info. It would be much faster than selecting a group, batch renaming, and manually adding the sequence number of the clip group into the clip name.
But unfortunately, that information only appears in the preview, and it’s not included during rendering.
On your second picture, the title name is just “05”.
I am wondering if this is normal.
Secondly, CdTrackTitle and Name are the same thing when you render multiple titles. Hence, there is probably something wrong with your naming scheme.
Let me clarify my idea.
I have a 5-track recording. At certain moments I used contact microphones, and at other moments I didn’t. Because of this, I don’t want to render using “All Titles” — it would include empty tracks.
What I want is to render only the All selected clips.
That’s why my clip names already include metadata like which microphone was used and some other info. But I also want to be able to group related microphones together when needed. To do that, I organized everything using markers, and now I have around 320 groups.
Each group contains 3–5 clips.
- batch rename each group clip by adding the group number, or
- ideally, automatically assign a group ID (for example “05”) into the clip title.
This way, each clip keeps its unique descriptive name (with all the “raw” metadata for identification), but also clearly shows which group it belongs to.
I hope I explained clearly what I’m trying to achieve.
In that case, the CdTrackTitle token in the naming scheme cannot be used.
The title is really tied to its start marker. The clip itself does not hold any metadata.
Thanks for your reply.
Even though this is not automatic have you tried the Batch Renamer using two windows as below? Here I have Group A and B, while clicking on A, I can use Batch Renamer in the Clip Window and rename groups manually.
With this approach, you can spare using the naming scheme of the Render Tab. It would be wise if you use space - Group Name Space Clip Name where it is easier for you to identify.
Thanks, yes, I also experimented with groups, but the group names are not transferred into the rendered file names either — or at least I couldn’t find a way to make it work.
If there is any way to include the group name in the rendered filename, please let me know. I would be very happy with a solution like that.
If you see the clip above, I am using 2 windows and renaming within the Montage. For example if my group name is A, I am renaming all clips in the group within the montage and then render all selected clips adds A to the new file names.
You can also try this in Reaper - render - (marker name) and bring it back to WL.
Thanks, I’ll have to try that next time.
I work with Reaper very little, and I also tried Nuendo — but it has its own issues.
In the end, with some good music playing in the background, renaming 324 groups wasn’t actually that bad ![]()
But I have to admit that your approach still involves batch renaming in the end, and that’s basically what I ended up doing as well, just without the grouping part.
I think it will be good to have Clip Group Name added to Clips - Batch Renamer.
