Can’t say I’m interested in Komplete. I have a good few other Kontakt products and would rather know if there is any news about the viability of N.I.
I did see this, from the same time as the article in the OP. Since the majority of my FX plugins are from these people, this news is something of a relief. For now…
Plugin Alliance also seem to be having what looks like a fire sale nevertheless, but good for them.
I have to admit I have always been puzzled by NI’s pricing policies, and their bundle choices seem to me to be between “too much”, “way to much”, and “the mother of all too-much-ness”. If you only want to buy a couple of their VSTis, you’re going to pay through the nose, but a bundle containing them will be on sale every six months for less?
They’re famous for their “sales”. Does anyone ever buy one of their products at full price?
I like my Kontakt libraries and use them a lot. The bundles just have too much that I would never use. I just wait for Black Friday.
On the other hand, if I was a pro, I’d buy the This-Really-Is-The-Ultimate-Collection-Honest bundle, and add it to the expenses.
More of the same. Absynth 6 would be nice though.
But for ambient a Solar 42 would be even better.
The benefit of NI is the integration with their controllers.
But it has taken them two years to finish their S series Mk3. (That’s what I’m more excited about). That’s right, they sold the S-series Mk3 for full price on day one, and it has been missing half of its features this whole time until a few days ago. That’s like the video game companies selling you a stripped out game and you pay micro transactions for the rest of it.
…
I say ‘more of the same’ because the companies have run out of new ideas. They ran out of things to do with sound, but they still need to sell something. In the case of NI; how to make things fresh? Just screw with the fonts and version numbers. Ya, that will do it. So people don’t notice there hasn’t been anything ‘Massive’ level new for how long now?
Probably a big reason why AI is so welcomed. It swooped in at the perfect time and rescued the content creators who were struggling so bad with “inspiration” that they’ve been doing nothing but steal from the past to limp along.
But the big bundles have a downside. That the more tools you have the less you use each one. And experience is wasted on dead men.
