Need advice on recording drums live - SAMPLE INCLUDED

They are good. Apparently Japan, and 80s band were among the first to record using these. Definitely in Middle Earth studios but I’m not sure if it was Tony Visconti producing. Mounted on 2 foot odd square perspex either side of the large kit.

I found the source of the realllllly offensive frequencies and, using the GE-30 plug-in, cut them out completely. The result doesn’t sound half bad.

The levels were quickly done so that I could hear whether the drums would sit properly in the mix. There are a number of mistakes in the drum track (but I have several takes so I can choose sections from various takes); the mix levels need to be reset; and I need to figure out what to do about my vocals but it seems that this could be an improvement on the original.

However, those are my thoughts only, and I’ve been up since 5am today so I’m a bit brain dead. What do you think?
