I’ve written a number of instrumental solos and choral pieces, both with piano accompaniment, as well as pieces for winds that use NotePerformer as the instrument library. I’m not a fan of the piano in NotePerformer instruments, and I’d like to create a playback template that uses Etude Elements for piano but also uses NotePerformer for other instruments. I installed Etude Elements using the Steinberg Download Installer. How do I now find Etude Elements in Dorico 6 and create the playback template I’ve described? Thanks for your help.
- Go to Play > Playback Template
- Click the new (+) button
- Name your template as desired
- Click Add Automatic and select Auto
- With the new entry selected, click the + button under Instrument Overrides
- Select Piano and click OK
- Click Add Automatic and select NotePerformer
- Click OK to save
Playback templates map instruments from each entry, in order. This new template says to start with the default Dorico Auto template, but only match the piano instrument in that template. Then use the NotePerformer template for other instruments.
