I’m using a Soft synth to record a midi track.
The melody is sequenced on the step sequencer of the Synth.
Turns out that the synth was not set by default to transmit the notes. But rather just by sequncing long note and the sequence goes on and plays.
Now my question IS as follow.
Keep in mind that I am aware of the part where the midi was not transmitting. (And its to late I need this current track)
Is there a way that I can open a second midi track under and press Record and the second track will receive those Note?
I tried it and It doesn’t work. Maybe there is a setting that I missed.
I don’t think it can work but who knows maybe some magic internal routing stuff.
I have made this work in the past by using the Reason plugin. Same thing, the long lengthy notes and I got it to record into Cubase a midi track.
So I’m kind of trying to achieve the same thing but from a midi track to another using a Soft synth and only the trigger note.
I’m using a Synth called Dune 3 from Synapse audio.
The option in settings is on step sequencer.
I should of changed it into midi before recording the part.
You can view the image on the way it was layed down.
The step sequencer on the synth is set to 64.
I recorded in a way when its a shorter note then it triggered until 8 or 16 etc…
I doubt that if I redo the take with midi that I will achieve what I recorded a few nights ago at 4am :))
There’s a few notes and minor editing needed to finalize the take. It’s situation that I created myself and I’m if it’s possible to get those notes.
There is a Last option that I’m thinking of that could or could not work:
I have a few systems, yeah I’m like a test freak as well. (Rme babyface pro fs, Ur24c, Ur-Rt2, Spl phonitor dac)
[ 1 x Amd 7900x win 10 , 1 x mac M2 pro, 1 x Amd 5900x win10 ]
Nothing to show off and just to get to know me.
So, if I use 2 systems and I connect a midi Cable from let’s say Cubase mac OUT then into a Cubase Pc IN.
Can the notes transmit to the other system? Please …
Its step sequencer is not that complicated, so I think that you can recreate your sequence using for example the step designer. Other than that, you can also try a step sequencer of another vst that is capable of sending midi, Pigments is one of them. Omnisphere uses a “capture” feature for 16 bars max which can also create a midi segment that you can drag and drop to Cubase. There are other VSTs out there offering similar functionality.
An alternative approach I can think of, and I actually used it in some very well known songs to extract their arps (“It’s a sin” 12" is one of them) is record the sequence to audio, and then use variaudio to extract the midi notes played.
Hi m.c ,
That is exactly what I just did a few minutes ago.
A friend of mine also suggested that I disable all effect before bouncing the audio.
I extracted the midi and seems pretty accurate.
Will have a listen to it soon.
As per the Synths , I do own several that I have purchased the licenses for.
The ones you were referring are part of the collection that I own.
Dune 3 is a recent addition and I’m pleasantly surprised of the interface.
