Needing Help with a Frame Break Problem

I am trying to take music across two pages and create a frame with the music on one page, but when I try to do this, it creates a frame break before the ending bar line. In other words, it leaves the measure at the bottom of the first page without the final bar line and puts the final bar line alone on the second page. I’ve tried selecting all the music notes and text, and I’ve also tried selecting everything that includes the final bar line. How can I get that final bar line onto the first page?

Remove the frame break and try to reduce the Default space for crotchet/quarter note carefully by 1/8 steps in Layout Options > Note Spacing.

One could also change to a smaller rastral size in Layout Options.

@Vadian and @kasky1 have given suggestions which will make your music take up less space and hopefully appear on one page all by itself.

Your approach should also work to force music onto one page: select something in the first bar, Ctrl/Cmd+select something in the last bar, and do Make Into Frame. If this isn’t working for you, and you’d prefer this solution, can you upload your project file here, so someone can take a look?

[I’ve removed the music from the conversation because it is unpublished.]

Adjusting the size didn’t work, and I need to stay at the rastral size I have so it is not too small. It just leaves the final bar line hanging when pulling all into one frame.

Choose the Frame Break (in Write mode) and use CRTL-ALT + Right Arrow (CMD-OPT+ Right Arrow on a Mac) to move it by increments to the end of the measure on the second page.

Is it possible that you placed the frame break too early? It looks like the measure is split.
If you intended to add more music afterward, I would delete the frame break for now and apply it, if needed, after all the music is entered. Selecting the bar line where you want to add it.

You can also set this Preference. (before creating them)

It looks like you want to balance the pickup duration in the last bar? Do you?
If yes can you upload the project?

Probably my ignorance, but why would you need a frame break if the piece is over? (The next flow, maybe?)

Please don’t shoot the messenger .
I suggested already in my first post to remove the frame break(s).

Sorry, no ammunition intended! As I said, it’s probably my ignorance — I wondered what I might be missing! Apologies if it came off a little bit snarky. I always appreciate how much you contribute and how helpful and generous your advice is. :folded_hands:

Crushing notes between two Frame Breaks is one way (not necessarily the best way) to keep everything on a page.

Thank you, everyone! Your conversation helped me remember that I deleted some rests at the end of that bar. I filled them back in with notes, then made the complete measure into a frame with the rest of the score, and it took everything over to the first page. I then deleted the notes again. Whew! I’m not good with puzzles. :joy:
