There is an age old compression/gating/etc technique of duplicating a track and shifting a few ms back and using it as the side-chain, in order to make a compressor that doesn’t have look-ahead, have look-ahead.
You can do this for analog compressors as well (in fact, External Instruments might already be able to do this)
