Sure understood. Looks an interesting solution, nice work!. I’m hoping Steinberg will come up with a direct solution for us.
Plugin maps are stored at //documents/nektar/nektarine/Mapping Files.
You can share these across multiple computers.
The user setting that has been discussed at length is the tempo control assignment which many customers are choosing to use for clip gain. We are of course aware of this and working on a solution to store user settings in controlCore.
This would be the ideal!
So the last update fixed the stuff i had problems with so far, i had for example the fader issue in the mixer, that works now for me. But another issue is with the select function enabled, not with all plugins btw. , lets say i select a parameter, then i move the fader, then i decide to use the pot - the parameter will jump to, where it was before i moved the fader, for example with the cubase amp sim plugin.
I miss colour editing from within the nektarine software, and loading plugins from the hardware would be nice (we already have the tagging system that can help within nektarine). Anyway - so far i really like the controller and i look forward to the next updates.
Thanks Tim for the explanation
and it’s really great that the potentiometers work with 7 bits and therefore a complete parameter sweep is possible. A lot of controllers don’t have that because they have such a high resolution. That’s why I don’t have any other ones
@Tim_Chandler
Can you list a summary on which mapping limitations are pending on Steinberg side for the CS12 to work flawless in all areas? My experience is, that lots of features work alright.
Does anyone know how I assign a MIDI controller explicitly, without MIDI Remote mapping, etc.? Meaning: by just pushing the CS12’s SELECT button, and then something similar to clicking a plugin control on the screen?!
Let’s say - just as an example - to control MIDI CC1 (Modulation) with CS12’s Fader.
Hi,
You can make an Custom Page in the MIDI Remote. Don’t assign any function to the fader/encoder/button. Then it will pass the MIDI CC to the track as a plain MIDI CC.
Or, if you have the JavaScript, you can even remap the source MIDI CC to another one, or even change the value programatically.
Thanks, @Martin.Jirsak .
I never did something like that - do you have a link or an article, where I can tech myself some basics?
One detail question though: your high-level description does not mention where it is defined, that the fader only responds to / sends CC 1.
Hi,
- Open Mapping Assistant.
- In the Mapping section, click the + button to Add Mapping Page.
- Type the Page name.
- In the Mapping Assitant, select, the control.
- Click on Reset Mapping (to unassign the mapping).
Result:
The control will send the value through to the track. So if the fader sends PitchBend (for example), the track will receive PitchBend. If the encoder sends MIDI CC1, the track will receive MIDI CC1. If you need to remap the MIDI CC, use Logical Editor to do so.
Hi, i have an Elgato Stream Deck with a Cubase Pro profile from Sideshowfx.
That works just fine but i miss a jogwheel/ rotating knobs and a fysical fader on it. Could the combination of the Stream Deck together with the CS12 solve this?
Nice to hear!
It was more of a general statement than anything else and specifically I’ve requested the ability to scroll and load plugins in the channel strip modules.
Hi,
Yes, you can use any number of MIDI Remote Devices next to each other.
That’s nice, thanks Martin!
Thanks, @Martin.Jirsak .
@Tim_Chandler : if I try those steps, do I risk to destroy something around CS, which currently works out of the box with Cubase?
Hi,
No, you can delete the new page anytime.
some companies (fabfilter plugin alliance) don’t allow me to open the npm file that I create with cs12 in nektarine. So the mapping is not displayed in nektarine by fabilter plugins as I created it in cubase. nektarine also creates a file in the folder
C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Nektar\Nektarine\Mapping Files\Inserts
but cubase creates it in
C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Nektar\Nektarine\Mapping Files\Inserts\fabilter.
even if I move the file to the right folder it doesn’t help.
what can I do?
Hi Tim,
Can you tell me how someone like me could use a Panorama P6 with this? I am interested in the CS12 but already have a P6. Can the two work seamlessly together?
The four assignable buttons on the bottom right do not remember their mappings!
After assigning functions to them they work for that session, then once Cubase is closed and re-opened, ALL FOUR of my MIDI Remont picks, end up assigned to the LAST button on the right which renders the assignments useless!
No button loses its assignment. Did you save it?
