Understood. Thanks for clarifying, @Pablin_Drummer2
Sorry it’s not possible to specify the color of the insert slots currently.
Ww do ofcourse do have control over the slot colors, so it’s something to send to support as a feature request.
You can update fundamental controls in the transport section, but there are 12 pages that need updating due to the architecture of the MIDI remote API so it’s not so simple.
I suggest using marker buttons M1:M10, which replace the main functions (with Marker selection by default) but only need updating once with different keyboard shortcut options and are available whenever the MARKERS button is active.
If you choose to repurpose these controls, you can still access markers by holding MARKERS and scrolling through markers in a project using the data/Menu rotary.
For completeness, the blue and orange denote default pre and post-fader position in the signal flow. Change these to whatever colour you want of course. Just to say its an important distinction to help visually prompt the user…
oh, thanks for clarifying that, of course, it’s not a problem for me (although if it can be added as a feature request, great)
As for the default behavior, it is not a problem either, since perhaps it is easier and more convenient to use another device for faster access (such as a Korg NanoPad that I use)
Thanks Tim!
Which is a great feature. Looking at the screenshot of @Pablin_Drummer2 however, is seems like his favourite color is orange, so I assume, that the pre/post fader colorization is overridden Or does someone know a possibility to customize colors distinguishing between pre- and post-fader in Cubase?
Yes you can change the colors in Cubase, i use Orange (Yes,one of my fav color) as Pre-Post fader setting.
There is facility in the Preferences… look for MixConsole colours or Track type colours (sorry, not at my machine and can’t remember exactly where this is found - maybe someone else will help with a more clear answer…). But, it can be done to your hearts content…
[EDIT - found it; look in Preferences → User Interface → MixConsole Section colours]
Good Luck.!
Can you give me some feedback on this, please? It would be great if this could be set in the future.
Furthermore, I personally don’t (or rarely) use the Cubase channel strip, but the Cubase EQ. To do that, I always have to switch to the second page with a keystroke…So it would also be great if in channel mode you could set the Cubase EQ to come first and then the channel strip (by default it’s the other way around).
Not normal, but normal for Steinberg.
Exactly
Hey Ste,
Sorry, I missed this comment originally. Automatically opening the plugin on slot selection is something we did consider. The problem is the positioning of the newly opened plugin window is quite random in Cubase. You also have to consider what happens to other plugin windows at the time a new one is opened - we can monitor what is open, but not on every track and it would be easy to get out of sync.
In Logic plugin link is automatically enabled, which closes other windows automatically and always keeps the new window in the same place - I think this is what you are suggesting would be your preferred behaviour.
However, plugin link is always active when a control surface is used in Logic which some customers find annoying.
The best solution is for Steinberg to implement plugin link on slot selection and make it an optional setting.
The Last selected page in the Channel mode is remember so that if you have EQ active, navigating back to Channel mode always brings the EQ back. The only issue is you need to set this each time you restart the Cubase integration. Something to consider as a user definable option perhaps, I’ll take that forward.
Tout fonctionne normallement maintenant.
Thanks for the feedback!
As a first step, it would be helpful if you could adjust the behaviour when pressing the slot button. In principle, this is the variant 2 I described, but where you don’t have to press [Slot] and then [Plugin] one after the other, but only [Slot].
It would be interesting to know if you are in contact with Steinberg regarding something like ‘Plugin Link’?
In addition, a note (but I don’t know if it’s helpful): since Cubase 14, there have been dedicated open/close commands as a keyboard command for each individual plug-in slot. Could that help solve the problem? The restriction would of course be that these commands did not yet exist in Cubase 13.
Ah, because of the restart, I won’t have noticed that it remains the same within a session.
Of course, it would be awesome if you could make it selectable so that it is retained even after a restart!
I am also for slot selection opens plugin.
It would be even better if CS12 displayed the plugin parameters when you opened a plugin in Cubase. However, Cubase does not provide this function.
Hi Tim, though an added preference by Steinberg would be surely welcome, I think that this behaviour can be accomplished by remotes and the same time let users decide every time what they’re after.
We can, for example, have an ordinary binding to opening a slot’s pluginUI, or we can have a sequence of the command Windows→Close All Plug-in Windows and the mEdit property of the plugin we want to show. This could be assigned to a “shift+something”, sorry, I don’t know the structure of the CS12 to be more precise. Nevertheless, I did notice too how plugin windows pop up, I guess they will open at the location user previously set them to, or if not previously open, to a centered position. Not sure though
I use a program called “Winsize” for this issue, works quite well…
The plugin does not open randomly somewhere. It opens where it was closed at the end.
Hi all, just ordered the CS12. I’ve had a few controllers previously, the last one being the Icon P1 Nano. Some great features for the money but I could not live with the poor quality button and very dim touchscreen. Buttons on this look very similar so hoping they are an improvement when it gets here. My question is this, the icon nano had three buttons which were DAW 1, 2 and 3 if memory serves me correctly. This worked great and expect it was simply 3 different scripts or pages. I had set mine up before it went back as 1 setup! 2 recording and 3 edit/mix/master.
Are we able to do the same thing with the CS12?
I was thinking of getting another streamdeck to use in conjunction ( didn’t like clunky buttons on that thing either) would it be possible to use the streamdeck to change pages on the CS12?
Thanks
