I’ve noticed in the midi presets list the Nektar Panorama P4. When reading specifications it doesn’t mention anywhere that it can be used on an Android device only ios. Can you indeed use it on android before I potentially waste my money and it doesn’t work. Currently running Cubasis 3.5.2 on a Samsung galaxy tab s8+
Hi @andy.j.gregory,
Thanks for your message.
The performance of Cubasis for Android is strongly related to the devices in use. We recommend to get in touch with our friends @ Nektar. Of course, we are able to have them equipped with a promo code for testing purposes, if required.
Best
Lars
Hi thank you for the reply.
Could you possibly provide a direct link to Nektar support so I could put the same question to them as well.
Many thanks
Hi @andy.j.gregory,
Unfortunately we have no such addresses. But I would expect that you should be able to find this alongside the documents of the Nektar device you’ve purchased.
Best,
Lars
Hi
I haven’t purchased the device yet because I want to make sure it would be compatible first. Many thanks for quick replies. I will find out somehow.
Found this pretty quick via Google.
I’ve come across that site already and nowhere does it suggest that it’s compatible with Android devices. I’m sure it must do if it’s on your list of midi controllers within cubasis which is available for Android obviously
Here’s my thoughts based on:
System Requirements
USB Class compliant, no driver is needed for:
Apple iOS, Apple OSX
Windows XP, or higher
Linux (MIDI driver software required)
USB Power Requirement: 500 mA
While it is USB Class compliant, here’s why I believe it is NOT Android compatible.
“Linux (MIDI driver software required)”
The Android kernel is Linux, and since each Android device is manufacturer specific, they chose not to attempt to support all the various Android devices available. The lack of a universal Android used by ALL manufacturers is why you find so many iOS/iPadOS apps not being ported to Android, IMO.
I’m sure Nektar would have listed Android if it was Android compatible.
Ok thats fair enough thank you. I’ll just have to carry on for now with the touch screen option unless there are other suggestions for me out there. Thanks again for replying to my queries
Hi Andy, I have a Nektar Panorama P4 and I am succesfully using this midi keyboard / controller with Cubasis 3.6.6 on a Samsung S24. My setup, meant to try to build a portable studio, is for now midi-only. Audio is a thing I still have to discover with Cubasis. I intend to try this with a Focusrite audio interface in the future.
I have an USB 3.0 hub connected to the OTG port of my Samsung S24. On the hub I connect the midi out of the P4 and a wired headphone (Beyerdynamics DT 770 Pro) with a 3.5mm to usb-c adapter chord and a usb-c to usb-a adapter as the hub has Usb-a ports). The P4 is powered by the S24. I have the S24 mounted on a wireless loader pad which is powered by a power bar, because the P4 takes a lot of power from the S24. The only thing that still requires 220V power is the usb hub, although sometimes when I unplug the hub power supply the whole setup keeps working. Sometimes not. Still figuring out how this works.
The midi instruments in Cubasis are very good playable with this wired connection to the P4 and the wired headphones, latency-wise. I tried my Samsung earpods but the bluetooth latency is horrible. With eveything wired - and probably also due to the fast processor of the S24 - this setup works very good and remains pretty stable. Keyboard to sound latency is almost undetectable.
I purchased all the available instruments and fx, with some bf discount, for a total amount of some 60 euros. The quality is excellent.
